Obituary for Preston Wayne Bennett

Preston Wayne Bennett was born to the late Preston Bennett Senior and late Jeanette Bennett (Obey) on May 7, 1947.

Preston Bennett was raised in the Haddonfield School System, as well as the Camden School System. Later he went on to graduate from Devry University with a Bachelors in Technical Management with concentration on Finance. He played football and gained his nickname FISH because he was a fast runner, swerving in and out of plays.

Preston enlisted in the United States Army and the Marine Corps from 1967 to 1974. He also played Semi-Pro football for the U.S. Army. He served in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1974. As a civilian, he was active in the Civil Rights Movement.

After retiring from the military, Preston was the founder and President of Corporate Kennels where he trained dogs. He also was the Co-founder and Vice President of Thai Legal Protection company in Bangkok, Thailand. He enjoyed coaching and mentoring youth in the Young Marines and as a school basketball coach. He also was the general manager of the Bangkok Tigers, a semi-pro basketball team in Bangkok, Thailand.

Preston enjoyed traveling, coaching/ mentoring, and spending time with his family. Preston was a spiritual seeker.

Preston departed this life on March 21, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Preston Bennett Sr, his mother, Jeanette Bennett, his brothers, George Bennett, Bruce Bennett and Anthony Bennett, his sister, Wendy Bennett and his son, Preston Bennett III.

He leaves to cherish his significant other, Sheila Randel, his six children, Malcolm, Jamaine, Tanisha (Andre), Solomon (Alissa), Elijah (Cora) and Sierra, his siblings, Samuel (Ranchana), Barbara, Steven, Richard, Gary (Andrea), Donna, Gerald (Mimi), several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of sending flowers, family is requesting memorial trees.
