Obituary for Yvonne Porter

On July 26, 1947, God entrusted the late Aaron (The Praying Man) Butler and the late Arcola (Newt) McLeod Butler with a priceless gift. Their very own angel, Yvonne Porter.

Born in Tensas Parish, Louisiana, Yvonne was the eldest sister of seven children and a beacon of hope for all the world to see. Yvonne moved to Las Vegas, NV at the tender age of 8 years old and was a Las Vegas resident until the day that God saw fit to call her home on February 23, 2023.

A phenomenal woman in every aspect, Yvonne epitomized what it meant to be a “real one”. She was the best mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, friend and trusted advisor. If you wanted the truth, regardless of how you felt; just ask Yvonne.

Yvonne has been freed from the toils and torment of this world and has returned home to rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father. She has been welcomed home by her parents Aaron and Arcola Butler, children Tonya and Tracey, sisters Marion and Loretha, grandson Derrick and niece Niesha.

Yvonne leaves cherished memories with her children: Lanita Newell, Mark Porter (Angie), Lorna Porter and Keith Porter. Her siblings: Arlene Butler, Kenneth Butler and Gerald Butler Sr (Arlett). Thirty grandchildren, forty-nine great grandchildren, a host of extended family and friends that she genuinely loved.

We thank God for the gift that was so unselfishly shared with us. For her life we say, to God be all the glory!
